AC/DC — Birmingham Odeon, 1978. The “You Want Blood” Tour. And believe me… they delivered the blood, sweat and noise!
AC/DC have sold nearly 71 million albums in the US alone, putting them among the five biggest-selling rock bands in American music history. Formed in Australia by brothers Angus and Malcolm Young, both born in Glasgow. And as a live band? Absolutely ferocious.
Up to Birmingham for Sounds Magazine.— interview, live gig, backstage, lot’s to cover! Angus tearing around the stage, Marshall amps turned up to number 11, total mayhem, crowd going mad for it. Got a front cover of Angus after their gig backstage wrapped only a towel sitting in an old chair that didn’t look too clean with two plastic cups full of Vodka in each hand, that’s Rock N Roll.
Back to some dodgy, dirt-cheap hotel for what was probably a few hours of very questionable sleep.
Then up at stupid o’clock… back to London town first thing.
Phew! What a night. What a band and my hearing is just returning!
