The Commodores funk/soul band of the 1970s and 1980s.Signed with Motown in November 1972.The group is best known for their ballads, such as “Easy” and “Three Times a Lady”, “Brick House”, “The Bump”, “Fancy Dancer”, and “Too Hot ta Trot”. In 1982, Lionel Richie left to pursue a solo career.
Flew over to Miami with Keith Bourton Publicity Director Motown Records London and Nina Myskow “Queen of Pop” in Fleet Street to cover the Commodores for a few features. Quick line up of the band in front of their tour bus before we all got on to travel to Jacksonville for one of their gigs. Nina was chatting to the band as we travelled. Got to Jacksonville about 5 hours later. Checked into the Hotel. Another interview with Lionel and Nina and a few more snaps. Off to the gig in a limo convoy escorted by the local police with their sirens and light flashing, exciting stuff. We all felt very important for a few minutes. Luckily there was a photographers pit I could run around in at the stadium and get the shot’s I needed. Great memories 🙂
