Blondie broke up after the release of their sixth studio album The Hunter

The band reformed in 1997, achieving renewed success and a number one single in the United Kingdom with “Maria” in 1999. The group toured and performed throughout the world during the following years, and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006.Blondie has sold 40 million records worldwide and is still active today. Their ninth studio album, Panic of Girls was released in 2011.

Photo calls, one of my pet hates.

Not only did you have to contend with about 30 other photographers but the general public got involved as well! It was always chaos. As you can imagine Blondies fan base was huge, so it was packed to the rafters. If you turned up late. End of story.

Picture this. Our Price didn’t open the doors until the band were ready.

So you have at least 30 paparazzi one side, that included me and what seemed a million fans the other side. Doors would open, then the stampede would occur. If you were lucky you’d get to the front. I was lucky on this occasion and got close enough. The image of Chris Stein holding his camera high above his head so he could get a shot of the crowd was mirroring what I was doing. If you look carefully he’s actually looking at my camera. Of course I had no idea I’d captured this shot until I got back to the darkroom . Bit fluky. Got out of doing photocalls as soon as I could.
