Blondie broke up after the release of their sixth studio album The Hunter
The band reformed in 1997, achieving renewed success and a number one single in the United Kingdom with “Maria” in 1999. The group toured and performed throughout the world during the following years, and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006.Blondie has sold 40 million records worldwide and is still active today. Their ninth studio album, Panic of Girls was released in 2011.
Back to Hammersmith — this time to photograph Blondie in 1980.
Another great band, another great show… and, of course, another three-song photo pass!
Three songs. That’s all we were allowed.
So it was straight into the photo pit, cameras loaded Locke and loaded, and every second counted. You had to work quickly. Of course I focused on Debbie as did we all.
And remember — this was all shot on real film. No LCD screen on the back and know auto focus.
Three songs and then… out!
Hammersmith was always one of my favourite places to photograph, but those three-song restrictions were a pain in the butt..
