After leaving Hawkwind Lemmy formed a new band with guitarist Larry Wallis, Steve Took’s Shagrat and drummer Lucas Fox. Their manager said they would never get on Top of the Pops with that name of, Lemmy changed the band’s name to Their name “Motorhead” came from the title of the last song he had written for Hawkwind. Lemmy wrote their hit Ace of Spades and “R.A.M.O.N.E.S” to their friends and contemporaries Ramones.

Motörhead released 23 studio albums, 10 live recordings, 12 compilation albums and five EPs over a career spanning 40 years.
Sadly Lemmy died on 28 December 2015
A statue of Lemmy has been unveiled in the late singer’s hometown. Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent.
