Tina Turner (born Anna Mae Bullock; November 26, 1939) is an American-born and singer, dancer and actress. Widely referred to as the ‘Queen of Rock’ n Roll”, she rose to fame as the lead singer of the Ike & Tina Turner Revue before launching her career as a solo performer.
Photographed Tina when she over in the UK for her tour 1979. She was staying at The London Hilton.. When I met her the first thing she said to me” is this going to take long honey” “I’m on stage in a few hours and need to rest”
I said “ About 15 minutes”, I lied! I did think at this point this wasn’t going to go that well..
I was on my own so no pressure then!
Anyway I set up my lights she stepped in front of my camera and came alive. She wqs awesome. I got about 30 minutes with Tina in the end. She said thanks for being so quick and gave me a hug. Didn’t stop smiling for a week!
